Weddings are Coming
Game of Thrones is back on our screens so here’s a little wedding inspiration from Westeros and the Seven Kingdoms! First you need to find the perfect setting for your Big Day, and nothing beats a magnificent castle in keeping with this theme – especially a venue like Eastnor Castle or Warwick Castle. You can even get married in the castle they filmed the Winterfell scenes in season 1….Castle Ward in Northern Ireland.
To show your true Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, or Khaleesi style, it’s all about intricate detailed corset ball gowns or soft floaty fabrics – perhaps even go for a coloured dress in pale gold or with embroidery decoration. And then for an outfit fit for a King, or your Sun and Stars – why not have a tailored velvet jacket or suit made in a wonderfully rich colour with embellishments or patterned panels for extra luxury!
For hair inspiration think braids with flowers or jewels, or follow Margaery Tyrell’s look with a delicate tiara or crown. And for the flowers and your bridal bouquet choose more rustic, and less structured wild flowers bunched together for that ‘just picked from the garden’ feel. Fill your venue with plenty of candles and decorate your tables with trees, branches, big florals and foliage.
Continue the theme through your wedding stationary too from the style and look of your invitations or wedding scrolls, to the table plan, names and place card look on the day. You could also have personalised button badges made for your ‘Hand of the Bride & Groom’ and all the rest of your wedding party. And why not name the tables after different Houses or find decorative editions of each book and use them for your table names.
You could also include the Handfasting Ceremony into your vows like the King in the North Robb Stark for an extra special and unique touch. Also make sure to ask your cake maker to influence the cake design Game of Thrones style to carry your theme through all the elements of the day. And finally – embrace all things Westerosi with favours for your guests like these beautiful house sigils bookmarks – just pop them in an organza bag in the colour of your theme and place on the table settings for that finishing touch!
I am yours and you are mine, from this day, until the end of my days…
